以喜樂和慈悲為要旨的「阿棍屋」在2015年由謝婉儀為紀念從繁殖場領養的家犬「阿棍」而獨力成立, 並在元朗錦田建立小型動物收容所。 除了接收被棄養、流落街頭及有傷病危疾的貓狗, 為牠們提及絕育、醫療、日常放養及尋求領養人等服務外, 也會為出現家庭問題(如主人患病等)的貓狗提供半年或以上的暫託照顧。 除了貓狗之外, 近年阿棍屋也會接收及照顧被遺棄的其他動物, 包括倉鼠、兔子、雀鳥及山羊等, 同時為牠們尋找適合的領養者。 該會在2022年7月獲得香港賽馬會的支持下, 在深水埗區開辨第一間流浪動物提供義診服務的「善行動物診所」。
“House of Joy and Mercy" is established in 2015 by Miss Ivy Tse, as a memory for adopting a dog called “A-Qun" from commercial breeder several years ago. Its small animal shelter home in Kam Tin mainly adopt the abandoned and strayed cats and dogs suffering from illness, providing daily and medical care, neutralization and arranging new owners for them. On the other hand, it also provides short term (around 6 months, or above if necessary) sheltering for pets whose owners’ cannot take care of them in a period or suffering from family problems. “House of Joy and Mercy" has extended the variety of animals being rescued and taken care of, such as hamsters, rabbits, pet birds and goats, it also arrange suitable adopters for them. With the support from the Hong Kong Jockey Club, the House of Joy and Mercy has established the Merit Veterinary Medical Centre, a voluntary veterinary clinic for the strayed animals in Sham Shui Po at July 2022.

Besides paying visits to school and other community corporations and staging site visit to the shelter home, the House of Joy and Mercy has once held some innovative program in order to raise public’s awareness of animal welfare and its publicity. Before the opening of their animal rescue centre, “House of Joy and Mercy" has to send their rescued animals to other firms like the AFCD for temporary care. (Subscripted from Mingpao issued at November 13th, 2021)
